Frequently Asked Questions
We answer your questions about what you can expect when you work with us.
Uncompromising integrity, honesty and transparency. We are committed to demonstrating those three values in every interaction we have with clients. We uphold our standards by providing independent advice, customized plans, and ongoing communication. Your goals are always our highest priority.
We are an independent firm, with access to a wide range of financial solutions from a variety of companies. We only make recommendations after extensive conversations with you, where we dive deeper to uncover the things you truly want from life in retirement. We use that information to build a comprehensive plan, encompassing every aspect of your financial life.
We encourage you to bring a list of questions or concerns about your money. Other items you should bring include:
- Your most recent tax return
- Investment and retirement plan statements
- Life insurance and annuity statements
- Pension and Social Security statements
- Updated trust documents
At our first meetings, we’ll spend much of the time getting to know you: Who you are and what makes you tick. We’ll also find out where you’re starting from so we can begin to draw a map to get you where you want to go.
We hold annual reviews with every client, where we talk about what’s happened in your life since we last met and answer questions you might have. We also look at how much progress you’ve made towards your financial goals and identify any potential obstacles in your way.
We work with people in the greater Sacramento area who want to retire well. We want to partner with people who believe that retirement is about making the most of every day. We look for like-minded people who share many of our same values, including a commitment to honest and open communication.
Many of our clients are high net worth individuals who want to minimize their tax liabilities and maintain their desired lifestyle throughout retirement. They may also seek guidance for the best ways to pass money on to the next generation.
We also work with business owners who have unique needs related to retirement saving and succession planning. Many of the business owners we work with also want to ensure their family and employees are protected if something happens to the owner.
After we’ve uncovered what you want, we’ll build a customized plan based on your unique needs, goals and life circumstances. Then we’ll oversee the details of implementing the right tools, guiding you through all the steps.
Once we put your plan in place, we will hold regular reviews to ensure your portfolio still matches up with your needs. Between meetings, we’re always available to answer your questions about your accounts.
We want to know when something major happens for you! If you have a significant life event, such as a change in work status or the death of a loved one, we encourage you to schedule a time to come in and talk with us. We’ll review your available options and make any necessary adjustments to your plan.
If you need to make minor changes – such as updating your mailing address – you can call or email us with your new information.
We frequently reach out by phone or email with market updates or information that might personally impact you. As a client, you’ll receive our quarterly newsletter via regular mail, which includes useful tips for your financial life. We also contact you when it’s time to schedule your annual review.
We believe that a solid financial future begins with education. That’s why we hold seminars and workshops in the greater Sacramento area throughout the year. These events are free to attend and are designed to provide information you can use to make wise decisions about your money.
